We are community owned and operated, a not-for-profit incorporated society, managed and run by volunteers.

As a community owned and operated cinema our volunteers are most important and manage most of the day-to-day cinema tasks. With their help we are delighted to be able to offer high quality and current films to people in Central Otago.

Central Cinema is run by volunteers. If you have any spare time, you might wish to become one of our valued volunteers. We look forward to your involvement.

Members' Nights

As a member you will be invited to our occasional Members’ Nights.
Usually a Thursday night.
Never more than once a month.

Our loyalty programme

You will be awarded points on all ticket purchases at the rate of 1 point per $1 paid.

Spend $12 and you will be rewarded with 12 points.
Do that seven times and you will have 84 points — which is the exact number of points needed to exchange for a free $12 ticket.

Couples members double up, of course — two member-rate tickets earn 24 points.

If you are accompanied by another adult (non-member) and buy their ticket, you will be rewarded with 15 points for the $15 Adult ticket. So it won’t take so many visits to earn your next free member ticket.


All information provided by you in completing the Membership Application will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will not be made available to any other organisation.
It will only be used by Central Cinema Alexandra for the purpose of administering membership benefits and communications.

How to buy a ticket as a member

As long as your are logged in, your ticket purchase is counted towards your loyalty reward.

When you click to buy a ticket, put in your email and your password (see the picture above) and “Sign In”.

If you are already signed in it will welcome you back.

You can stay logged in; there is no need to log out.

When you are logged in the members-rate ticket price will show.


If you have forgotten your password

You come to buy a ticket and find you have lost your password, what to do?

You can see at the top of the web page, where you would normally log in, the “Forgot password?” link, Click on that, put in your email and it will send you an email so you can reset your password

It slows you down a bit, as you have to wait for the email to arrive. (And, of course, if you put your email in wrong, nothing will arrive.)

You can also change your password by logging in, This is good when it is time to make a change, but you have to log in to do it, so you need to remember your existing password. When you are logged in you have these choices:

How to change your details

To update your address, email, name, favourite kinds of films, LOG IN  and choose “Update Personal Details”.


Renew your membership

To renew your membership,  LOG IN and choose “Renew Membership”.

Have your credit or debit card ready so you cn make the payment.

(If the “Renew Membership button is greyed, then your membership has already been renewed.)

How to change your membership

You have reached 65 years of age and want to change from an Individual to a Senior Citizen membership. You have got a job and want to change from a Student or Beneficiary member to an Individual.

LOG IN and click on the Change your Membership button.

You get offered these choices:

If your new membership choice will cost more, have your credit or debit card ready.
